DAVOSA launches the Ternos Professional GMT Black&White in collaboration with photographer and freeskier Luca Tribondeau.
Where remarkable functionality, unconditional precision, an easy-going lifestyle and a whole lot of fun come together, Luca Tribondeau won’t be far away. The Austrian sports ace has taken part in alpine ski races and the new slopestyle discipline at the Olympic games in Sotchi, he is also a passionate surfer and in recent years has begun to make a name for himself as a photographer. With the new limited edition DAVOSA Ternos Professional GMT, he now turns his hand to watch design.
Luca Tribondeau has known about DAVOSA watches for quite some time. His parents were fans of the brand before him. Two years ago, he himself fell in love with the Ternos Pro GMT: “The Ternos Professional GMT is by far the most beautiful, classic and practical watch that has ever been built,” enthuses our youngest DAVOSA brand ambassador.
Limited edition of 500 pieces
DAVOSA gave Luca Tribondeau the opportunity to incorporate his own ideas in realising an individual version of the popular GMT model of the Ternos Professional. The result is the 500-piece, limited edition Black&White. His ethos: A watch should be at home in any environment and withstand all weather conditions. Luca’s design fulfils these requirements with consummate ease.
Tried, tested and here to stay
At the heart of the Ternos Professional GMT remains the tried and tested Swiss DAV 3032 automatic movement with hour, minute and central second hands, GMT and date display with magnifying lens function at 3 o’clock. It is integrated in a stainless steel case that is 42 mm in diameter and 15.5 mm in height. The striking hands and indices – a triangle at 12 o’clock, rectangles at 9 and 6 o’clock and circles at the full hours – are already familiar from the Ternos Professional, but have received an anthracite plating to highlight them against the white dial. The use of luminescent Super-LumiNova on the hands and numerals ensures optimum functionality even in restricted visibility.
Bright orange signalises safety and style
New design elements include a white dial and an instantly discernible, bright orange GMT hand that lets you read the hour in a second time zone on the surrounding half white, half black ceramic bezel. The watch is topped by a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while the underneath is protected by a screw-down, stainless steel back. The case is water resistant to 20 ATM for risk-free use in and under water.
Greater flexibility and warmth thanks to additional nylon strap
At Luca Tribondeau’s request, the watch is supplied with two contrasting straps. As well as a classic stainless steel strap, there is a robust, replacement nylon strap that runs underneath the case: “The metal strap is too cold and big for me when skiing, and not flexible enough on the wrist when surfing. But for everyday wear, I favour the metal strap.” That the bright orange of the GMT hand is mirrored in the white, blue and orange nylon strap is more than just a matter of style. “Neon orange is a well-established colour in surfing and water sports. It suits the lifestyle and provides excellent visibility,” explains DAVOSA brand ambassador Tribondeau.
The Ternos Professional GMT Black&White comes in an exclusive wooden box with an accompanying booklet. This masterpiece with its tried and tested functionality and reinterpreted design retails at 1348 euros. The Ternos Professional GMT is available from July 2019.
